How it works?

  • Upon registration, participants receive unique codes from STEM & Space.
  • These codes are utilized during hands-on training sessions, where attendees learn how to designate locations for image capture by the ISS.
  • The ISS then captures and delivers the requested pictures within a few days.
  •  This initiative offers an enjoyable learning experience that enhances understanding of Earth’s geography, weather patterns, and environmental dynamics.

What equipment do I need to participate in the EarthKAM missions?

You need a laptop or desktop with good internet connectivity.

How often are Sally Ride EarthKAM missions conducted?

We conduct it four times in a year.

Can students from all grade levels participate in the EarthKAM program?

No. Grade 5 to 9 can participate.

What kind of locations on Earth can I request images of during the missions?

Any locations of your choice. It should be lying in the orbits displayed during the time of project.

How long does it take to receive the requested images from the International Space Station (ISS)?

A week.

Is there a limit to the number of image requests I can submit during a mission?

A maximum of 2 images can be requested.
