With the Giant Mars Map, awarded to STEM & Space by the Buzz Aldrin Sharespace foundation, and children will get a unique chance to virtually walk on the surface of the planet as well.

Let the children be part of this learning experience and give them opportunities to:

  • Understand the evolution and transformation of Life
  • Explore the Mars surface/Topography
  • Know the historic and future space missions on Mars
  • Habitat on Mars

Curriculum

WHY MARS AS A DESTINATION?

In the first week, children will explore life in the solar system and learn what makes the planet Earth habitable. They will unravel the potential of Mars to become a habitat and sustain life. The children will also find out about extremophiles, which are an exceptional kind of life form.

The first week will include following topics:

  • OUR EARTH – ONE IN A MILLION
  • EXPLORING LIFE IN SOLAR SYSTEM
  • IS MARS A POSSIBLE CANDIDATE?

MISSIONS TO MARS

We all know that in recent times, Mars has been a popular destination for Astronomers and Space Explorers across the globe. In the second week, children will get a chance to dive deeper into these space missions to Mars and learn what factors go into planning a mission to Mars.

The second week will cover 2 topics:

  • HISTORY OF MARS EXPLORATION
  • LET’S PLAN A MISSION TO THE RED PLANET

MARS – THE UNIQUE RED PLANET

As children immerse further in the learning course, they unravel more mysteries about the red planet, Mars. Its features. Resources available on the planet. They find out: Does it have water or an atmosphere? Could life have existed here?

  • EXPLORE RESOURCES ON THE RED PLANET
  • FIND ANSWER TO THE QUESTION: IS LIFE POSSIBLE ON MARS?

FUTURE OF HUMAN EXPLORATION OF MARS

For current and emerging space explorers, Mars is the stepping stone into the interplanetary exploration. As children towards the end of the course, they get hands on experience of planning a model human settlement on Mars. They also find out where else on our solar system can we look for life.

In the fourth week, children will:

The entire learning will be STEM Integrated and investigative, where children learn by doing. By the end of the course, the children will:

  • Enhance their knowledge about Mars
  • Explore more about life in solar system
  • Learn how to plan Mars mission
  • Get familiar with Giant Mars Map
  • Know how to plan a Mars mission
